Correction: Shared Dosimetry Error in Epidemiological Dose-Response Analyses

چکیده
In the section Shared Error and Complex Dosimetry Systems for Dose Reconstruction under the subheading “Incorporating multiple realizations of dose into dose-response analysis,” the first sentence of the seventh paragraph incorrectly refers to equation 6 and equation 7. This should instead should refer to Eqs 4 and 5. The correct sentence is: Note that many of the properties 1–4 above (from Stram and Kopecky) can be seen to apply to Eq (4) and Eq (5). The second sentence in the final paragraph of the Discussion incorrectly refers to equation 6. This should instead refer to Eq 4. The correct sentence is: For binary data the extremely widely used logistic regression model is not directly amenable to the methods described above for two reasons, one is the non-linearity of the mean as a function of covariates, and the second is the non-linearity of the variance as a function of the mean, which complicates the variance calculation compared to the form in Eq (4) for the Poisson model. The publisher apologizes for these errors. Eqs 4 and 5 can be viewed here:

Correction of confidence intervals in excess relative risk models using Monte Carlo dosimetry systems with shared errors
In epidemiological studies, exposures of interest are often measured with uncertainties, which may be independent or correlated. Independent errors can often be characterized relatively easily while correlated measurement errors have shared and hierarchical components that complicate the description of their structure. For some important studies, Monte Carlo dosimetry systems that provide multi...
متن کاملShared Dosimetry Error in Epidemiological Dose-Response Analyses
Radiation dose reconstruction systems for large-scale epidemiological studies are sophisticated both in providing estimates of dose and in representing dosimetry uncertainty. For example, a computer program was used by the Hanford Thyroid Disease Study to provide 100 realizations of possible dose to study participants. The variation in realizations reflected the range of possible dose for each ...
متن کاملA method for estimating occupational radiation dose to individuals, using weekly dosimetry data.
Statistical analyses of data from epidemiological studies of workers exposed to radiation have been based on recorded annual radiation doses. It is usually assumed that the annual doses are known exactly, although it is generally recognized that the data contain uncertainty due to measurement error and bias. We propose the use of a probability distribution to describe an individual's dose durin...
متن کاملVerification of the Accuracy of the Delivered Dose in Pelvic and Breast Cancer Radiotherapy by in-vivo Semi-Conductor Dosimetry
Introduction: Delivering maximum dose to tumor and minimum dose to normal tissues is the most important goal in radiotherapy. According to ICRU, the maximum acceptable uncertainty in the delivered dose compared to the prescribed dose should be lower than 5%, and this is because of the relationship between absorbed dose, tumor control and normal tissue damage. Absorbed dose accuracy is investiga...
متن کاملAchievable accuracy in brain tumors by in vivo dosimetry with diode detectors
ABSTRACT Background: In vivo measurements of applied dose during radiotherapy treatment, is important to ensure accurate dose delivery to patients. Uncertainty in dose delivery should fall within ±5% of the prescribed dose as recommended by ICRU. Assessment of dose for radiotherapy applications performed with various types of detectors. In this study, semiconductor diodes were used which have s...
